our beginning.
Robert and Roberta Lee launched S.A.J. Fruit Supply Pty Ltd in 1961 and established a reputation recognised for providing quality and value in fresh fruit and vegetable supply spanning over almost six decades. In December 2001, SAJ made the strategic decision to expand into the value added market of processed fruit and vegetables acquiring the highly regarded processed fruit and vegetable company Catercare. This now makes SAJ Fruit Supply Pty Ltd one of Australia’s leading suppliers of both fresh and processed fruit and vegetables.
The strategic Catercare acquisition has enabled us to expand and develop a new market, allowing us to control our two greatest risks, labour and price fluctuations. The transition of the food services market from in-house production to outsourcing value added products has steadily increased. This growth has allowed us to mitigate our labour risk by reinvesting in the latest technologies to improve our output performance. In addition our purchasing power has been stimulated allowing us greater forecasting to deliver better pricing opportunities alleviating some market price fluctuations.

Our fundamental business planning goal is to partner with key accounts, offering price stability, state of the art facilities, quality assurance and customer service aligned with the best available product. Our successes over the past few years include major hospital groups, contract caterers, leisure venues, contract manufacturing, major public and private institutions and defence force contracts.
We operate from our purpose built facility at 24-30 Maygar Boulevard, Broadmeadows. Our facilities are designed according to our strict quality assurance program and we are always in the pursuit of better technology to improve and provide new and superior products.
Our modern, spacious premises are temperature controlled to protect the shelf life and quality of products during production. This enables us to provide a complete chilled flow from production to delivery. This state of the art premise has direct links to our facility at the Melbourne Markets in Epping, resulting in the ability to offer our customers immediate distribution of fresh produce.
SAJ Fruit Supply Pty Ltd provides daily delivery on weekdays to all of metropolitan Melbourne and parts of regional Victoria and a weekend service when required.

Our company prides itself on its employees and currently employs over 50 full-time and part-time people, several of which are descendants of the founding family thus providing personal ownership and due diligence of running such a diverse business.
